Bulls
and Bodies
Dramatic flames climax the ceremony. When
the flames subside, the crowd will take the ashes to the sea, then return
home exhausted. The family is financially poorer, but high in spirit, having
accomplished their duty to those to who caused their existence. By consecrating
their dead, those involved will continue to guided by deities in the same
way in which, as human beings, they were helped and protected by those
who no longer live. |
