. . Benares . . The
modern name is Varanasi, the most fascinating city in India, for me.. This
man washes clothes on a stone in the Ganges River. The famous Ghats are
on the left with temples, residences, lodgings. I don't stay at the western
hotels across town, but here in the old section. I find a place on a small
houseboat near the center of activity, to lay my sleeping bag below deck.
The feelings of spirituality and religion here overpower me. |
