PeaceWalk 1989 .. . . . fSome men cannot be contained by their country of origin. Richard Halliburton was such a man. His books inspired me, as did Arabian Nights, Gulliver's travels, and the exploits of many seafarers, who dominated my youthful dreams. I imagined finding harmony and camraderie with unknown people in far-flung places. The twentieth century, despite the wars and mayhem, made those ambitions possible. My job as an engineer helped, taking me to foreign countries for 25 years, and inspires me to continue traveling.
